Painting

Today the students continued working on their paintings in art class. Great job Jack!

This week the students continued to improve their math facts. Next week they will be taking their math fact tests for a grade. Please practice with them at home or even in the car.

This Thursday the next benchmarks are due for the book reports.

I am also sending home permission slips for music fest. These are due back on Thursday. I need to register the students by this weekend.

Our quote for today is from famous Olympian Jesse Owens, "We all have dreams. But in order to make dreams come into reality, it takes an awful lot of determination, dedication, self-discipline, and effort."

Homophones

We have been working on homophones. Today we read a book and made posters about homophones. Ask your student for a couple. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KrDcW-W5lJ8

It was very exciting today in chapel - we received new worship books from an anonymous donor. It was really fun singing new songs. Pastor Schleif also gave us a lesson in chapel on how God loves us and always takes care of us.

Our Bible verses for this week are:

1st, 2nd, 3rd graders:
“The Lord’s teachings are perfect. They give new strength. The Lord’s rules can be trusted. The make plain people wise.” Psalm 19:7

5th – 7th graders:
Each of us is a part of the one body of Christ. Some of us are Jews, some are Gentiles, some are slaves, and some are free. But the Holy Spirit has fitted us all together into one body. We have been baptized into Christ’s body by the one Spirit, and have all been given that same Holy Spirit.” 1 Corinthians 12:13
Our quote for today is from Martin King Luther, Jr, "The time is always right to do what is right."

5th-7th graders should bring in their permission slips for the basketball clinic tomorrow.

Painting

Today in art class the students painted beautiful pictures. I love Katarina's colorful flower garden.

There is no Spelling City or spelling words this week, but we are having Reading Plus and Bible.

Our Bible verses this week are:

1st & 2nd graders:
“He rained manna down on them to eat. He gave them grain from heaven. So they ate the bread of angels. He sent them all the food they could eat.” Psalm 78: 24-25

5th – 7th graders:
Quietly trust yourself to Christ your Lord, and if anybody asks why you believe as you do, be ready to tell him, and do it in a gentle and respectful way. Do what is right; then if men speak against you, calling you evil names, they will become ashamed of themselves for falsely accusing you when you have only done what is good.” 1 Peter 3:15-16

The 5th-7th graders are being sent home with basketball clinic information and last week they were sent home with Music Fest information which has the link for the songs they need to study.
Our quote for today is from John Wooden, "Success is peace of mind which is a direct result of self-satisfaction in knowing you did your best to become the best you are capable of becoming."

Valentine's Day

What a great way to spend Valentine's Day - spreading God's love to the residents at Life Care Center in Pueblo.  The students played their chimes and were directed by Ms. Nancy. Then they handed out lap blankets and hand-made Valentine's cards.  Some of the residents said that it made their day. I know that it made ours!  It was a great lesson in, "It's better to give than to receive." Afterwards, we went to Dunkin Doughnuts for a little treat.  Our quote for today is from Mother Teresa, “It's not how much we give but how much love we put into giving.”

“I will pour out water for the thirsty land. I will make streams flow on dry land.” Isaiah 44:3

5th – 7th graders:
“He said to his disciples, “The harvest is great, but the workers are few. So pray to the Lord who is in charge of the harvest; ask him to send more workers into his fields.” Matthew 9:37-38

Students were asking for more websites to study their math facts:

Our quote for today is from Martin Luther King, Jr, "Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that."
