In writer's workshop we talked about character compare and contrast. Ask your student to compare and contrast different things - like two people, two books or two foods.
I have a suggestion for my middle school students. I put up the student's English and Math assignments for the week on Monday. When they (and you the parents) see that they have a quiz or a test, please encourage them to study. My tests and quizzes, for the most part, are open book or open notebook.
The spelling words and Spelling City assignments are already up for next week if students want to get a head start. Middle school students need to also complete their Reading Plus assignments.
