Hour of Code

Today was an exciting day in our classroom as we participated in the Hour of Code event.  Over 50 million children from all over the world have tried the Hour of Code.  Here was our kick off message from President Obama: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JDw1ii7aKwg&feature=youtu.be.  Your child can continue learning on their own by going to http://code.org/learn. Each child that participated also received a certificate.

Our Bible lesson this week will focus on forgiveness.  Our Bible verse is:
" If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness." 1 John 1:8,9

Tomorrow we will be going on our field trip to the John Knox Nursing Home to sing carols.  If I have any parents that would be willing to drive, please let me know.

Please remember that the students writing projects are due on Friday.  All weekly assignments are also due.  This week we will also be taking a poetry quiz.  This is our last week to practice math facts.  This coming Monday they will take them for a grade.

Our quote for today is from Clay Bedford, "You can teach a student a lesson for a day; but if you can teach him to learn by creating curiosity, he will continue the learning process as long as he lives."
