We had an awesome experience yesterday meeting the author of the book that we have been reading in class, "Finally Free," by Sandra Doran. Mrs. Doran was so gracious to come into our class and spend time answering the student's questions about her father's story and life. It was an especially nice connection since James and Gloria Finley ended up living in Deltona, Florida.
Today you will be getting an invitation from your child inviting you to our annual Parent's Day! You will be invited to join us for the whole school day on April 23rd. You are invited to participate for the whole day or part of the day - whatever your schedule will allow. It is a wonderful way to get an intimate look at your child's school day.
Today in social studies we are studying about our founding fathers and the Declaration of Independence. Here is a link to the video that we watched that made the history come alive: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eccgj5u_Ydc.
In writing we are working on our own declaration against a rule that we do not agree with. On WPP online the students are watching lessons on how to elaborate their essays. In reading we are working on the standard that compares and contrasts stories that have similar themes.
Our quote today is from founding father Thomas Jefferson, “Honesty is the first chapter of the book wisdom.”
